Plastic bags, bread bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, and other clean plastic film should never be placed in curbside recycling.
Instead, return clean, dry plastic film to participating grocery and retail stores. When plastic film enters recycling machinery, it wraps around sorting equipment, causing costly shutdowns and contaminating recyclable materials.

Plastic bags wrap around sorting equipment, shut down recycling machinery, and contaminate recyclable materials.
Take clean plastic film to a store drop-off instead.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection provides guidance on recycling plastic bags and plastic film.
