About the Paunacussing Watershed Association
The Paunacussing Watershed Association (PWA) is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization ddedicated to protecting and restoring the streams, forests, wildlife, and natural resources of the Paunacussing Watershed in Buckingham and Solebury Townships. Through conservation, education, restoration, and community stewardship, we work with residents, municipalities, volunteers, and partner organizations to improve water quality, strengthen habitat, and build a healthier, more resilient watershed for future generations.

The Paunacussing Watershed Association was founded in 1972 by Bill Tinsman, Sr., Ned Harrington, and other concerned residents after a proposed residential development threatened the watershed. Their vision was simple but enduring: local people working together to protect the natural resources that make the Paunacussing Watershed such a special place.
Over the next several decades, PWA became a trusted voice for conservation, advocating for responsible land stewardship, stream protection, and environmental education throughout the watershed. Although organizational activity slowed for a period, the mission never disappeared.
In 2023, following several years of increasingly severe flooding—including the devastating impacts of Hurricane Ida—community members came together to revitalize the organization. Since then, PWA has renewed its commitment to restoring stream corridors, improving water quality, monitoring watershed health, educating residents, and building partnerships that help protect our community from future environmental challenges.
More than 50 years later, PWA continues its mission of protecting the Paunacussing Watershed through science, stewardship, education, and volunteer action.
